Ideal for graphics/web, marketing, communications, and business majors, this concentration offers a wide range of options for exploring how your gifts and talents may be used in a non-profit ministry. Depending upon an applicants background and experience, this concentration can be divided and focused on either marketing or non-profit management.
Marketing
Marketing planning and subsequent activities operate on a cyclical basis. In a year, an intern would have the opportunity to glean an overview of what WBC does while enjoying hands-on experience on whatever projects we were working on at the time.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
Exact tasks & responsibilities will vary according to the marketing work that needs done and with the particular skills of the intern. In general, interns will assist with the following:
- Creating & distributing news releases
- Creating & mailing direct mail pieces (letters, brochures, flyers)
- Creating multi-media pieces for YouTube and the website
- Assisting with social media communications
- Writing for the WB Sounder and other newsletters
- Placing posters & banners in community for The Lights of Christmas
- Compiling and analyzing customer feedback (surveys & evaluations)
- Trade show displays and other community relations activities such as Rotary and Chamber meetings
- Program management & operations
Non-Profit Management
The goal is to expose the intern to the range of practical business activities of WBC. There is generally not time in one year to focus extensively on any one area to gain complete proficiency. But, we will provide a sampling of what is covered or taken into account by the full-time staff who are responsible for these areas.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
Exact tasks & responsibilities will vary according to the marketing work that needs done and with the particular skills of the intern. In general, interns will assist with the following:
- Assist with preparing for summer staff recruitment
- Update hiring packets, nurse recruitment packets, evaluation forms, etc.
- Assist with projects as they occur
- Attend management meetings as requested
- Attend Board meetings as requested
- Assist with annual cost analysis
- Maintain lease lot and staff housing records
- Accident tracking summary
- Research as requested
Miscellaneous
Interns will also experience the wide range of operational support work such as accommodations, food services, mailroom, and recreation. The degree to which this occurs varies with the time of year and needs of the camp.
Area-Specific Qualifications
In addition to the general intern qualifications, applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Marketing, business, journalism, graphic design, or communications majors preferred
- Completed BA program
- Outgoing, friendly and able to meet and greet the public
- Able to write articles and capture life-change stories for wide variety of applications
- Able to work both in a team environment and independently
- Able to design and/or critique graphic art and multi-media work
- Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs
- Work samples will be required
